New in 4.12.2: Campaign Archive block and Mailchimp Site Tracking Pixel

Published on by

Version 4.12.2, released last week, ships two new features worth highlighting. Both were contributed by Faisal Ahammad, who has been making steady contributions to the plugin over the past few months.

Campaign Archive block

You can now display an archive of your past Mailchimp email campaigns directly on your WordPress site, using either the new Gutenberg block or the [mc4wp_campaigns] shortcode.

This is useful if you want to let visitors browse your newsletter archive as part of your site — giving people a way to read your emails on the web without needing to subscribe first, which can itself be a good incentive to sign up.

Using the block: In the Gutenberg editor, search for “Mailchimp Campaign Archive” and add the block to any page or post. It will pull in your recent campaigns automatically.

Using the shortcode: Add [mc4wp_campaigns] anywhere that accepts shortcodes — a page, a text widget, or a classic editor post.

The archive pulls campaigns from your connected Mailchimp account. Make sure your API key is configured under Mailchimp for WP → Mailchimp for it to work.

Mailchimp Site Tracking Pixel

This release also adds preliminary support for Mailchimp’s Site Tracking Pixel. When enabled, the tracking pixel lets Mailchimp identify which of your subscribers visit your site, so you can use that activity to trigger automations or segment your audience.

Note the word “preliminary” — we’re shipping the basic integration now, but expect to refine it as Mailchimp’s own documentation and feature set matures. If you try it and run into anything unexpected, please let us know.

Updating

Both features are available in version 4.12.2, which you can install from the Plugins screen in your WordPress admin or download from WordPress.org.
