Mailchimp sign-up checkbox now works with the WooCommerce Checkout Block
If you use our WooCommerce checkout integration to show a Mailchimp sign-up checkbox during checkout, you may have noticed it disappear after updating WooCommerce over the past year. Version 4.9.16, released last week, fixes that.
What happened
WooCommerce introduced a new Checkout Block to replace the classic shortcode-based checkout page. Starting with WooCommerce 8.3, the Checkout Block became the default for new installations. If your theme or a WooCommerce update switched you to the new block-based checkout without you realising it, our integration’s checkbox would simply stop appearing — because it was written to hook into the classic checkout, not the block.
This affected a lot of users. The support forums had a steady stream of reports about the missing checkbox, and it’s taken us some time to get the block-based integration right.
What’s fixed
Version 4.9.16 adds full support for the WooCommerce Checkout Block. The sign-up checkbox now appears correctly in block-based checkout pages, and you can control where it shows up from the WooCommerce integration settings in the plugin — just as you could before.
We also added detection so the plugin can tell which checkout type you’re using and only shows positions that are actually relevant.
How to update
Update from the Plugins screen in your WordPress admin area, or download the latest version from WordPress.org.
If the checkbox still doesn’t show after updating, check that the WooCommerce integration is enabled in Mailchimp for WP → Integrations and that a Mailchimp audience is selected in the integration settings.
As always, if something doesn’t work as expected, let us know.
